Chinese Language
National Chinese Challenge
Zhang Yihui (6 Care) achieved the Best Individual Award in the National Chinese Challenge. It is an annual event organised by SPH Media Trust’s Chinese Media Group and Nanyang Girls’ High School. The competition brings together top young Chinese language learners from primary and secondary schools across Singapore, challenging them in areas such as Mandarin proficiency, comprehension, and effective communication

Chinese Text Recital Competition
Our students took part in the Annual Chinese Text Recital Competition, and we are proud to announce that Chen Boya (3 Respect), Chuah Qin En (3 Resilience), and Agnes Liu Xu Tong (6 Care) received Bronze Awards in the Primary School Individual Category. Isabella Chin (3 Respect), Feng Mingchen (3 Resilience), and Michelle Ghaderi Nasirabadi (3 Resilience) received Bronze Awards in the Primary School Group Category.
“SCRIPT IT RIGHT” Chinese Radio Drama Competition
Zhang Yihui (6 Care) was awarded the Merit Award under the Primary School category in the "SCRIPT IT RIGHT" Chinese Radio Drama Competition 2025. This competition was jointly organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), UFM100.3, and Holy Innocents' High School. In a field of 149 primary school participants from 28 schools, Zhang Yihui's entry, "六十味" ("The Sixty Flavours"), stood out as one of the five scripts in Category A to be honoured with a Merit Award.

North Zone Schools Chinese Speech Competition
Our students participated in the North Zone Chinese Speech Competition, organised by Evergreen Primary and Secondary School. We are proud to share that the following students have received commendations for their performance:

Malay Language
Rentas Pantas (Malay Language Amazing Race) – National Level

Our Primary 5 Malay Language students took part in Rentas Pantas 2025, an Amazing Race-style competition held at the National Institute of Education (NIE). Organised by the NTU-NIE Malay Language and Cultural Society, the event offered a series of engaging and meaningful activities that fostered a deeper appreciation for the Malay language and culture. A standout moment was the impressive Silat performance, presented in collaboration with Cantonment Primary School. We are delighted to announce that our students achieved second place as runners-up, a testament to their talent, teamwork, and enthusiasm.
Peraduan TeeVers (Podcast Competition) – National Level
Muhammad Amsyar from 5 Self-Discipline and Nur Ariana from 5 Integrity shone brightly at the National TeeVers Competition 2025, emerging as champions! Representing Xishan Primary School as Rakan Bahasa (Friends of Malay Language), the duo impressed the judges with their expressive voice acting and a heartfelt script centred on the theme 'Singapura, Kebanggaanku' (Singapore, My Pride). Their creativity, confidence, and teamwork not only earned them individual trophies but also helped secure the school championship trophy, making this a truly memorable achievement for Xishan Primary.

Pesta Bahasa Utara (Malay Language Fiesta) – Zonal Level

Pesta Bahasa Utara 2025 is an annual Malay Language Fiesta that provides a platform for students to celebrate and showcase their talents in the Malay language and culture. Through various cultural competitions, students develop their language skills, creativity, and confidence while sharing their love for Malay heritage.
We are proud of our students for their outstanding performances at this year’s fiesta:
Primary 1 (Folk Song) – Consolation
Primary 2 (Folklore) – 1st Place
Primary 3 (Poetry Singing) – 2nd Place
Primary 4 (Quatrain Skit) – 3rd Place
Primary 5 (Poem Recitation) – 1st Place
Primary 6 (Language Rap) – 1st Place
With these stellar results, Xishan also secured overall 1st runner-up, a testament to our students’ hard work, creativity, and teamwork. Their efforts were recognized with both individual awards and a school trophy, celebrating their collective achievement.
Tamil Language
Our Tamil students participated in various competitions such as the Thirukkural Vizha and Muthamizh Vizha at the national level, and the Tamil Literary Competition at the Nee Soon Link constituency level. These contests aimed to spark students’ interest in spoken Tamil, improve their language skills, and deepen their understanding of their mother tongue, while building their confidence in using the language effectively. Our students performed well and won several prizes.
எங்கள் தமிழ் மாணவர்கள் தேசிய அளவில் நடைபெற்ற திருக்குறள் விழா, முத்தமிழ் விழா, மற்றும் நீ சூன் குழுத்தொகுதி அளவில் நடைபெற்ற தமிழ் இலக்கியப் போட்டி போன்ற பல்வேறு போட்டிகளில் பங்கேற்றனர். இந்தப் போட்டிகள் மாணவர்களின் பேச்சுத் தமிழில் ஆர்வத்தைத் தூண்டுதல், மொழித்திறன்களை மேம்படுத்துதல் மற்றும் தாய்மொழியைப் பற்றிய புரிதலை ஆழப்படுத்துதல், அதே நேரத்தில் மொழியை திறம்படப் பயன்படுத்துவதில் அவர்களின் நம்பிக்கையை வளர்ப்பதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டிருந்தன. எங்கள் மாணவர்கள் சிறப்பாகச் செயல்பட்டுப் பல பரிசுகளை வென்றனர்.

Mathematics Department

ArithmetEQ Challenge is a national math competition Hosted by Yishun Secondary School. It aims to strengthen students' understanding of arithmetic operations and equations using the ArithmetEQ game that is inspired by Scrabble.
In 2025, Two of our students, Ma Chui Ling and Kaitlyn Yeo Xin Shi, managed to clinch a place among the top 6 pairs of the challenge.
